Huge new Laser Tag, Games Arena and Escape Room Centre Plan for Witham

For immediate release 02/10/2020

Popular live gaming company 'Know Escape' are opening an exciting new Laser Tag Centre, Escape Rooms, Virtual Reality Space, and Games Arena in the heart of Witham.

'Witham Games Arena' will be based in the centre of the high street and directly above the entrance to Newlands Shopping centre. The centre will occupy the former DS Fitness Experience Gym and will provide a much needed entertainment venue to the town.

Opening first will be a large Laser Tag zone called 'Laserscape'; teams will battle against each other in the state of the art large laser arena, using the latest gaming technology and effects. Party packages will be available.

Next to open in the centre will be 'Witham Escape Rooms', launching an escape room designed specifically for children called 'The Punch and Judy Show Escape Room'.

Escape Rooms are one hour live activities where teams come together to solve live puzzles and 'The Punch and Judy Show Escape Room' will be based on a traditional British seaside, the set is in construction and looks fantastic. Children will work together on puzzles to help Mr Punch find the sausages after Crocodile ate Mr Punch's dinner. The game will be suitable for children aged four and up, but can ultimately be played by all ages.

Matthew Eaves, who grew up on Maldon Road and now lives in Wickham Bishop's with Justina and their two children is one of the founders of Know Escape Ltd in 2017. "People want bigger escape room games" says Matthew "we're noticing a trend for larger groups, and this means more spacious escape rooms, we've had our eyes on Witham for the past two years and finally secured the perfect location, it's huge, this means bigger sets, bigger games, and more explorable adventures!"

"The days of running escape room companies from small buildings is no longer viable in our industry says Will Hazon (Matthew's business partner). Our experiences, like our 'Rob the Bank' escape room, are very large, and customers expect big games now. "In our 'Rob the Bank' game teams start in the back of a real van and are reversed through the wall of a bank, they have one hour to work their way around to the gold safe, break into the gold cage and escape in the van. We need big spaces. Witham allows us the ability to deliver much larger games. We've so much space available that we are able to fit in a laser tag arena and and a Virtual Reality, Gaming, and Party Space."

"I used to walk past the building on the way to The John Bramston School" adds Matthew "We already have experience in opening leisure activities in the high street, our venue in Maldon is directly above the excellent Edward's Walk, and we've brought a lot customers in to that centre, we expect to do the same at Newlands as we bring people to Witham.

Will adds "Witham is a really friendly town, it's on the A12, has great connections to Chelmsford, Colchester and Braintree, its got great car parking and we're going to deliver the safety and quality level our customers have come to expect from 'Know Escape'.

Matthew concludes "Covid 19 really shook our business, we had to adapt quickly to running escape games online, we ran 3000 games during the peak of covid from the safety of home, it taught us a whole new way of doing things. Now our physical games are open, running and operating as safe as possible, we're ready to start a new adventure diversifying the business further, and once again will be putting safety first in everything we do."
